I was reading in Luke 19 today and came across that familiar passage: “He sent two of His disciples, saying, ‘Go into the village…you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loose it and bring it here. And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it?’…say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it’” (Luke 19:29-31 NKJV). Who notices a donkey tied to a tree in a town where nothing ever seems to happen? Jesus! It’s sorta crazy if you think about it, because you’d think He’d have some other things on His mind. But, during the busiest week of His life, on His way to Jerusalem to die, He paused for a lowly colt, saying, ‘Bring him to Me.’ I think there’s a killer lesson here for you and I. Jesus knows where we are today, and when the time is right He will call us.
Notice the words, “A colt…on which no one has ever sat.” Why hadn’t anyone ever sat on this particular jack-ass? Maybe it’s because nobody placed much value on it. Ever feel like that? But when God has a plan for our life, He’s not influenced by those who overlook or underestimate us.
Notice also the phrase ‘a colt tied.’ You or I may be tied up with legitimate things like raising a family or holding down a job. Or we may be tied up with illegitimate things we can’t even talk about, because they’re too dark and ugly. Either way God knows, and He’s bigger than our problem. Check out the words; ‘If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it?’… say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it.'” Understand this: Neither our friends or our foes control our future – God does.
How long had the colt been tied to that tree? Days? Weeks? Months? We’re not sure. But this much we can be sure about, when the Lord says, “Loose it and bring it here,” the clock starts ticking and His plan for our life starts falling into place.
GAAA!!! I LOVE THIS!! CAUSE I TRULY AM A JACK-ASS!! Michael, Michael, Michael…. my jackassiness misses you… What a great analogy!?! I’d ask where in the WORLD you come up with this stuff – but I already know. Otherworldly…
Note: “loosing it” or “losing it” – either way, Jack-Ass am I. Hope the Lord needs me for sumpthin…
