QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU DIG DEEPER FOR YOUR FAMILY DEVOTIONS OR SMALL GROUP:
Have you ever come across a particular verse or passage in the Bible that you didn’t immediately understand? In those times, what did you do?
Why do you think Jesus seemed to purposefully be ‘unclear’ or ‘vague’ at times when He taught?
Read 1 Corinthians 13:12. How would you explain this verse to someone brand new to the faith?
It was stated, “With a clear and easy explanation, hearers can listen and achieve understanding and then go on their way, independent of the teacher. But when a story or a teaching confounds them, it invites them to ask questions so they continue to depend on the teacher Himself.” What do you think of that idea “to depend on the Teacher“? Usually, in teacher/student relationships (like parent/child relationships) the goal would seem to be that the student (or child) become independent. Why would Jesus want something different?
In Genesis 32:24-29 God changed Jacob’s name from “supplanter” to “governed by God” after they wrestled. How can wrestling with God be used to change us?
