Epiphany

Luke 24:13-35

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU DIG DEEPER INTO THE MAIN MESSAGE: ‘Epiphany’

Read our text: Luke 24:13-35.

What do you think caused these two followers of Jesus to leave town? Fear? Disillusionment? Overload (maybe Jesus’ suffering and crucifixion had wiped them out)? Loneliness? Despair?

What do you think these two are talking about as they walk? Why is the first thing Jesus says to these men, “How foolish you are”? Is it a good thing or a bad thing to have Jesus call you “foolish”?

This “Stranger” [Jesus] begins to speak about Old Testament Scriptures that pertain to HIM! Look up some of the following Scriptures and talk about how they pertained to Jesus. Could these have been some of the very Scriptures that the ‘Stranger’ used?

  • Genesis 3:15
  • Isaiah 7:14
  • Micah 5:2
  • Malachi 3:1
  • Zechariah 9:9
  • Zechariah 13:7
  • Isaiah 53:4-12
  • Daniel 3:16-25
  • Joshua 5:13-15
  • Can you think of any others?

Can you remember the things Pastor Michael mentioned would aid a person in bringing about an ‘EPIPHANY’? Share them with the group and discuss what they mean to you personally?
