GRACE: Doesn’t Add Up

Genesis 3:21-24

Questions to help you dig deeper into the message

(for your family devotions or small group):

What stood out to you most in this message?

Pastor Michael gave many Biblical illustrations of how God’s ‘math’ doesn’t add up [Vineyard Owner parable, Shepherd who leaves the 99, the widow giving two mites, the woman ‘wasting’ her perfume to anoint Jesus, the prodigal son parable]. What does this seemingly backwards way of thinking tell us about God?

It was stated in this message that there is nothing one can do to make God love them more, or less. Read Psalm 89:2. What is this verse telling us about God’s love?

Read Jude 1:20-21. What do you think it means when it states, “keep yourselves in the love of God“?

After sharing about Moses, who had hid on the backside of the desert for 40 years, probably mulling over and over again in his mind how he had blown it, it was stated; “If we do not deal with our shame and guilt by handing them over to God and allowing Him to forgive us and cleanse us – we’ll never accept Grace, and we’ll never be used in the powerful ways He wants us to be.” Talk about this and share if this has ever caused you or someone you know to be rendered ‘ineffective’.

How can expectations, that we put on ourselves or that we feel God puts on us, keep us from accepting God’s Grace?
