This is the entire service from August 30th, 2020. The worship was done live (on Wednesday, August 26th), the main message is part of our verse-by-verse study through the Gospel of Luke, and the Children’s Message at the end is on Jesus’ baptism… and again, there is a very special guest!

QUESTIONS THAT WILL HELP YOU DIG DEEPER INTO THE MAIN MESSAGE FOR YOUR FAMILY DEVOTIONS OR SMALL GROUP:
Read Luke 18:1-8. Why did Jesus tell this story?
Pastor Michael said that this was a “parable of contrast“, which means that we are to contrast our JUST God, with this UNJUST judge. What are some ways the unjust judge in the story is NOT like our God? What are some ways the woman in the story is NOT like us?
Read the following verses and have different folks in your group read them and explain what they are saying: Ephesians 6:18, Isaiah 65:24, Philippians 4:6-7, 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18, Psalm 121:4, 1 Timothy 2:8, James 5:16, 1 John 5:14, Psalm 86:5, Jeremiah 29:12-13, Matthew 26:41, Acts 12:5
When it comes to prayer, is God easy for you to talk to? Why, or why not?
Family Discussion Questions for the children’s message: “JESUS’ BAPTISM”
Have a volunteer read Matthew 3:16-17
Ask the following questions and Lead your family to discuss:
What message do we declare when we are baptized? Emphasize that when someone is baptized, that person follows Jesus’ example by showing others that he or she has confessed Jesus as Savior and Lord. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward reality. Lead kids to connect going under the water in baptism as dying to sin and coming up from the water as being raised to new life—a life lived for Jesus. Point out that Jesus’ baptism symbolized what would come: His death, burial, and resurrection. (Option: Choose a volunteer to read Rom. 6:4.)
Where do we see the Trinity—the three Persons of God—in today’s Bible story? Help kids recognize God the Father speaking from heaven, God the Son on earth as a man, and God the Spirit appearing like a dove. Emphasize that there is one God, and He exists as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Acknowledge that the Trinity can be hard to understand; no one is like God! (Option: Choose a volunteer to read Eph. 2:18.)
Why does obedience to God bring Him glory? Lead kids to share their ideas. Prompt them to think about how obeying God shows that we trust Him and submit to Him as Lord of our lives. In a similar way, God is glorified when we live like Jesus—loving God and loving others, obeying His commands, and remaining in Him. (Option: Choose a kid to read 1 John 3:23-24.)
