QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU DIG DEEPER FOR YOUR SMALL GROUP OR FAMILY DEVOTIONS:
What was one thing that you will take away from this message?
Read Colossians 3:4. What does Paul mean by referring to Christ as, “Who is your life“? What does this tell you about the Christians living in Colossae (Asia Minor)?
Read Luke 13:6-9. How is the story applicable to those listening to Jesus then? How is it applicable to us today? Is there a significance to the exact time the Vineyard Owner says He’s been coming to find fruit?
Read Mark 11:12-14 and verses 20-21. What is significant about Jesus’ words, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!“.
Spend some time discussing each of the three points from this message: 1. Allow Jesus to dig around and expose the roots. 2. Allow Jesus to fertilize you. 3. Look at THE Tree.
Pastor Michael talked about how the Greek word, “aphiemi” really impacted him because it was used in another place other than our text (Luke 13:8 and Luke 23:33-34). Why is this so cool? What does it say about our Master?
THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS ARE FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION ONLY:
Are there any “root issues” in your life that you feel God would have you expose this year so that He can pour the water of His Word on them? If so, take some time and ask the Lord to do just that.
How can God better ‘fertilize’ your life this year? Are you availing yourself to times where other believers can speak into your life and help you in your journey to bear fruit for the Master?
When you ‘look at the Tree’, what are you, personally, most grateful for?
