The Finger of God

Luke 11:14-23

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU DIG DEEPER FOR YOUR FAMILY DEVOTIONS OR SMALL GROUP:

READ Luke 11:14-23. What stood out most to you in this message?

How does the crowd react to Jesus’ miracle here? How does Jesus show the foolishness of the claim that He drives out demons by Beelzebub?

What do verses 21-22 have to do with what is happening here?

Jesus states that He drives demons about “by the finger of God” (the finger of God made the “accuser of the brethren flee” – Rev. 12:10). Pastor Michael mentioned God’s finger being mentioned another time, in John 8:1-11, and how whatever Jesus wrote made the woman’s accusers flee. Why is this significant for believers?

READ Colossians 2:13-15. How would you describe what Paul is saying here to someone who is brand new to this whole “Christian life” thing?

READ 2 Corinthians 5:17-6:2 – and talk about what some of the key words are in this passage: “ambassadors“, “ministry of reconciliation“.

IF YOU HAVE EXTRA TIME AND WANT TO DIG REALLY DEEP: Read about the other times in Scripture that God’s finger is mentioned (Exodus 8:16-20, Exodus 31:18 & Deuteronomy 9:10). Is it significant that the same finger that gave us the Law of God, also drives out the accusers? Why?
