QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU DIG DEEPER INTO THE MAIN MESSAGE: ‘The Judas Dilemma’
What are some of the questions that people have about the Bible and Christianity that you feel the ‘Church’ doesn’t often do a good job of answering?
Talk about the balance between ‘accepting something in faith, as a child‘ and asking people to ‘check their brains at the doors of the church‘. Does it really matter what you believe, as long as you have faith? Read Hebrews 11:6. What is this verse asking?
Read Luke 22:21-23. Verse 22 states that Jesus would ‘go away’ (the Greek word ‘poreuō’, which means ‘to depart from life’ [Strong’s G4198]) ‘as it has been determined‘. If God had ‘determined’ that Jesus would die and be betrayed as He was, is it fair to condemn Judas? Wasn’t Judas simply a pawn? Did Judas have a choice?
Talk about the 6 reasons Jesus chose Judas (that were shared in this message), and how these apply to us today:
JESUS CHOSE JUDAS TO FULFILL BIBLE PROPHECY – Ps. 41:9 & Ps. 55:12-14
JESUS CHOSE JUDAS TO RELATE TO US PERSONALLY – Hebrews 4:15
JESUS CHOSE JUDAS AS WITNESS TO HIS MORAL EXCELLENCY – Matthew 27:4
JESUS CHOSE JUDAS TO ENLIGHTEN US ON HYPOCRISY – Matthew 13:24-30
JESUS CHOSE JUDAS TO WARN US POWERFULLY – (warning against ‘disappointment’ in God)
JESUS CHOSE JUDAS TO SHOW HIS BEAUTY – Matthew 26:50
Discuss this quote: “The Sovereignty of God and responsibility of man are like two rails of a track; you get in the train and if you’re the conductor you can look down the track and you see the track with two separate rails and you can’t bring them together, but if you look far enough ahead you can see that it appears in the infinite distance they come together.” – Charles Spurgeon
