Time To Die

Genesis 25:1-18

Questions to help you dig deeper into this message:

What stood out and ministered to you most from this message?

Abraham lived a long time and is called,”A friend of God”. He walked with God. Pastor Michael shared how we often refer to our relationship with God being “our walk”, because it happens one step and one day at a time. Why is it important for us to view Christianity as “a walk”? What are things we need to do on a daily basis to make sure we are maturing in our walk with the Lord?

Abraham died “old and contented” (Genesis 25:8), as compared to Ishmael (Genesis 25:17-18) who just fell over and died. Read the following verses and talk about the ways we can choose each day to finish our life happy, satisfied, and full: Isaiah 46:4, 2 Corinthians 4:16-17, Psalm 71:18, Colossians 3:5-8, James 1:26, Ephesians 4:32, Philippians 3: 18-19, James 4:11-12, Galatians 6:1-3.

Read Matthew 5:24. Why do you think Jesus places such importance on reconciliation?

Pastor Michael talked about “playing dead”, but that when he is poked (or tickled) he always moves and reacts. We can talk about ‘dying to self’ a lot, but if our tendency is to respond and react each time we are poked… are we really ‘dead’ to ourselves? What are some of the reasons we should seek reconciliation with others?

Is there anyone in your life that you have become ‘estranged’ from? What are you going to do about it?
