Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

Luke 10:25-37

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU DIG DEEPER:

Is it possible to love your neighbor if you first don’t love yourself? Can we give something that we don’t have? Read 1 John 4:10 and talk about how being a recipient of God’s radical love helps us love our neighbor.

Read Philippians 2:13 and talk about how God can use you to impact someone else’s life?

When Jesus was asked, “Who is my neighbor?” He responded with the famous story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:30-37. Even those who have no love for God see the value of the story. What is the bottom line of this story? Who did Jesus say was being a neighbor? The one who had compassion. How has someone being compassionate towards you impacted you in the past?

Compassion is not simply a warm fuzzy feeling in our hearts. Compassion does something. A heart that’s moved by compassion cannot sit idly by while someone suffers a need. Read 1 John 3:17 and discuss how loving your neighbor as yourself is being moved to help to the full extent of your ability. Talk about a time when the Lord has done this through you.
